Summary: Malicious code in chart-animation-helper (npm)

Details: Source: amazon-inspector (fa890c03c6122833b54a469ef025c3761dfb6fa3a6cd299152de54ce98d9aedd) Package is published as 'chart-animation-helper' and described as 'Lightweight chart animation utilities', but the module contains no chart or animation functionality. The sole content is a self-labeled XSS proof-of-concept payload aimed at ai.zoom.us via CDN nonce injection: it injects a red banner into a DOM element with id 'root' and calls window.widgetSend with an 'xss_poc' message. The code has no npm lifecycle hooks, no Node network I/O, and no filesystem access; it depends on document/window APIs and is inert in a Node context. Installing or requiring the package does not exfiltrate data, execute remote code, or persist on the installer's machine. The concern is (1) deceptive package metadata (name and description do not match shipped code) and (2) shipping an attack payload targeting a third-party origin under a benign-sounding name, which is not a supply-chain attack on the installer but warrants human review for potential registry-policy action. Source: ghsa-malware (a17f53a8a6915954e34aefd5d01ca4644d7185a1214fff4960c30d9a8c2f19ec) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
