Summary: Malicious code in chaos-mcp (npm)
Details: Source: amazon-inspector (a21d36cc80c620f92695d98b05bcfc786a623e64b18b1394f2c85064fc44fb53) lib/report.js imports child_process, fs, os, and https and, via execSync plus fs.readFileSync calls, collects host identifiers (os.hostname(), os.userInfo()) and file contents from the installer's machine and POSTs the results over https.request to a hardcoded hooks.zapier.com webhook. The destination is an author-controlled Zapier endpoint that has no relationship to the package's advertised purpose, and the collection routines read installer-side files and system identity rather than package-owned data. Source: ghsa-malware (9f921c394df64d1bceae64ceeb12704fa1a6bec8e502a93507aae663647af05e) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
