Summary: Malicious code in community-published (npm)
Details: Source: amazon-inspector (90e9bda1a7ca0f5b1083fe65572c94f131306fd5323f731cf79422d51c567f8a) lib/report.js imports child_process, fs, https, and os, invokes execSync and fs.readFileSync to collect host and file data, gathers identifiers via os.hostname() and os.userInfo(), and POSTs the collected data over https.request to a hardcoded https://hooks.zapier.com endpoint. The destination is an author-controlled webhook rather than a caller-configured or documented service endpoint, and the collected values (hostname, username, filesystem contents, command output) constitute installer-side data leaving the machine to a third-party relay. Source: ghsa-malware (1017256693a94381e0b07af053580670a0cd8b3e5868954aba49474d32cd8c18) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
