Summary: Malicious code in strapi-plugin-cron (npm)
Details: strapi-plugin-cron is a malicious npm package disguised as a Strapi CMS plugin. On install, it runs a postinstall script that executes an 11-phase attack: stealing .env files, environment variables, Strapi configuration, private keys, Redis data, Docker/Kubernetes secrets, and network topology. It then opens a polling C2 loop that accepts and executes arbitrary shell commands from a remote server. Source: amazon-inspector (0ba07ecf8f966876b40ca8bc926b6607463014eb11f08e97ef5bdded6ebfa681) The package strapi-plugin-cron was found to contain malicious code. Source: ghsa-malware (bcf3b8e5e4ac22880a5d046e583db4231e52dfeeac6267f88c830a76a03d8b5c) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
