Summary: Malicious code in log-taker (npm)
Details: Source: amazon-inspector (30b4bde2f8e6fa87d896e86967b814a70ae3e46f1b1d58ed4552d1d909fbfcfe) index.js imports child_process and invokes execSync with bash and zsh shell strings (around lines 315 and 331). The pattern of spawning interactive shells from a package named 'log-taker' is unusual and warrants human review, but the available evidence does not include the literal command strings, network destinations, credential reads, or lifecycle-hook bindings needed to confirm an installer-side attack. There is no traced exfiltration endpoint, no read of installer-secret paths, and no confirmed install-time auto-execution path. Disposition is review pending verification of where these shell calls fire (lifecycle hook vs. user-invoked CLI) and what commands they execute. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
