CVE-2022-49772
Last Modified: 23 Dec 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: usb-audio: Drop snd_BUG_ON() from snd_usbmidi_output_open() snd_usbmidi_output_open() has a check of the NULL port with snd_BUG_ON(). snd_BUG_ON() was used as this shouldn't have happened, but in reality, the NULL port may be seen when the device gives an invalid endpoint setup at the descriptor, hence the driver skips the allocation. That is, the check itself is valid and snd_BUG_ON() should be dropped from there. Otherwise it's confusing as if it were a real bug, as recently syzbot stumbled on it.
CVE-2022-49762
Last Modified: 23 Dec 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: check overflow when iterating ATTR_RECORDs Kernel iterates over ATTR_RECORDs in mft record in ntfs_attr_find(). Because the ATTR_RECORDs are next to each other, kernel can get the next ATTR_RECORD from end address of current ATTR_RECORD, through current ATTR_RECORD length field. The problem is that during iteration, when kernel calculates the end address of current ATTR_RECORD, kernel may trigger an integer overflow bug in executing `a = (ATTR_RECORD*)((u8*)a + le32_to_cpu(a->length))`. This may wrap, leading to a forever iteration on 32bit systems. This patch solves it by adding some checks on calculating end address of current ATTR_RECORD during iteration.

This was uncovered by fstests' testcase btrfs/163.
CVE-2025-23155
Last Modified: 30 Jul 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: stmmac: Fix accessing freed irq affinity_hint In stmmac_request_irq_multi_msi(), a pointer to the stack variable cpu_mask is passed to irq_set_affinity_hint(). This value is stored in irq_desc->affinity_hint, but once stmmac_request_irq_multi_msi() returns, the pointer becomes dangling. The affinity_hint is exposed via procfs with S_IRUGO permissions, allowing any unprivileged process to read it. Accessing this stale pointer can lead to: - a kernel oops or panic if the referenced memory has been released and unmapped, or - leakage of kernel data into userspace if the memory is re-used for other purposes. All platforms that use stmmac with PCI MSI (Intel, Loongson, etc) are affected.

CVE-2022-49882
Last Modified: 10 Nov 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: Reject attempts to consume or refresh inactive gfn_to_pfn_cache Reject kvm_gpc_check() and kvm_gpc_refresh() if the cache is inactive. Not checking the active flag during refresh is particularly egregious, as KVM can end up with a valid, inactive cache, which can lead to a variety of use-after-free bugs, e.g. consuming a NULL kernel pointer or missing an mmu_notifier invalidation due to the cache not being on the list of gfns to invalidate. Note, "active" needs to be set if and only if the cache is on the list of caches, i.e. is reachable via mmu_notifier events. If a relevant mmu_notifier event occurs while the cache is "active" but not on the list, KVM will not acquire the cache's lock and so will not serailize the mmu_notifier event with active users and/or kvm_gpc_refresh(). A race between KVM_XEN_ATTR_TYPE_SHARED_INFO and KVM_XEN_HVM_EVTCHN_SEND can be exploited to trigger the bug. 1. CVE-2022-49886
Last Modified: 4 Aug 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/tdx: Panic on bad configs that #VE on "private" memory access All normal kernel memory is "TDX private memory". This includes everything from kernel stacks to kernel text. Handling exceptions on arbitrary accesses to kernel memory is essentially impossible because they can happen in horribly nasty places like kernel entry/exit. But, TDX hardware can theoretically _deliver_ a virtualization exception (#VE) on any access to private memory. But, it's not as bad as it sounds. TDX can be configured to never deliver these exceptions on private memory with a "TD attribute" called ATTR_SEPT_VE_DISABLE. The guest has no way to *set* this attribute, but it can check it. Ensure ATTR_SEPT_VE_DISABLE is set in early boot. panic() if it is unset. There is no sane way for Linux to run with this attribute clear so a panic() is appropriate. There's small window during boot before the check where kernel has an early #VE handler. But the handler is only for port I/O and will also panic() as soon as it sees any other #VE, such as a one generated by a private memory access. [ dhansen: Rewrite changelog and rebase on new tdx_parse_tdinfo(). Add Kirill's tested-by because I made changes since he wrote this. ]

CVE-2022-49771
Last Modified: 23 Dec 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm ioctl: fix misbehavior if list_versions races with module loading __list_versions will first estimate the required space using the "dm_target_iterate(list_version_get_needed, &needed)" call and then will fill the space using the "dm_target_iterate(list_version_get_info, &iter_info)" call. Each of these calls locks the targets using the "down_read(&_lock)" and "up_read(&_lock)" calls, however between the first and second "dm_target_iterate" there is no lock held and the target modules can be loaded at this point, so the second "dm_target_iterate" call may need more space than what was the first "dm_target_iterate" returned. The code tries to handle this overflow (see the beginning of list_version_get_info), however this handling is incorrect. The code sets "param->data_size = param->data_start + needed" and "iter_info.end = (char *)vers+len" - "needed" is the size returned by the first dm_target_iterate call; "len" is the size of the buffer allocated by userspace. "len" may be greater than "needed"; in this case, the code will write up to "len" bytes into the buffer, however param->data_size is set to "needed", so it may write data past the param->data_size value. The ioctl interface copies only up to param->data_size into userspace, thus part of the result will be truncated. Fix this bug by setting "iter_info.end = (char *)vers + needed;" - this guarantees that the second "dm_target_iterate" call will write only up to the "needed" buffer and it will exit with "DM_BUFFER_FULL_FLAG" if it overflows the "needed" space - in this case, userspace will allocate a larger buffer and retry. Note that there is also a bug in list_version_get_needed - we need to add "strlen(tt->name) + 1" to the needed size, not "strlen(tt->name)".

Last Modified: 7 Nov 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix missing xas_retry() calls in xarray iteration netfslib has a number of places in which it performs iteration of an xarray whilst being under the RCU read lock. It *should* call xas_retry() as the first thing inside of the loop and do "continue" if it returns true in case the xarray walker passed out a special value indicating that the walk needs to be redone from the root[*]. Fix this by adding the missing retry checks. [*] I wonder if this should be done inside xas_find(), xas_next_node() and suchlike, but I'm told that's not an simple change to effect. This can cause an oops like that below. Note the faulting address - this is an internal value (|0x2) returned from xarray. BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000402 ... Last Modified: 23 Dec 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix use-after-free bug of ns_writer on remount If a nilfs2 filesystem is downgraded to read-only due to metadata corruption on disk and is remounted read/write, or if emergency read-only remount is performed, detaching a log writer and synchronizing the filesystem can be done at the same time. In these cases, use-after-free of the log writer (hereinafter nilfs->ns_writer) can happen as shown in the scenario below: Task1 Task2 -------------------------------- ------------------------------ nilfs_construct_segment nilfs_segctor_sync init_wait init_waitqueue_entry add_wait_queue schedule nilfs_remount (R/W remount case) nilfs_attach_log_writer nilfs_detach_log_writer nilfs_segctor_destroy kfree finish_wait _raw_spin_lock_irqsave __raw_spin_lock_irqsave do_raw_spin_lock debug_spin_lock_before <-- use-after-free While Task1 is sleeping, nilfs->ns_writer is freed by Task2. After Task1 waked up, Task1 accesses nilfs->ns_writer which is already freed. This scenario diagram is based on the Shigeru Yoshida's post [1]. This patch fixes the issue by not detaching nilfs->ns_writer on remount so that this UAF race doesn't happen. Along with this change, this patch also inserts a few necessary read-only checks with superblock instance where only the ns_writer pointer was used to check if the filesystem is read-only.
